Testimonial from Bear Grylls, adventurer

If Bowen can help Bear Grylls keep doing what he does, then there must be something in it for anyone. This is a link to the BTPA website article which explains more.

Bowen therapy is a soft tissue remedial therapy that involves the therapist using fingers or thumbs to move over muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia in various parts of the body. This therapy can be effective to help relieve everyday stresses and revitalise the whole person. Each Bowen therapy session varies according to the particular problems of the client. By focusing on the lower and mid back and legs, the upper back, shoulders and the neck, a sense of wellbeing can be achieved, helping relaxation, aiding sleep – helping to remove everyday stress and anxiety that can make us feel under-par or prevent us functioning at our optimum.

It is important to choose a qualified Bowen therapist who has undertaken all the necessary training to understand the theory and practice of Bowen therapy.

You can check whether a Bowen therapist is registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) by searching the register at www.cnhc.org.uk. By choosing Bowen therapists registered with the CNHC you can be confident that they are properly trained, qualified and insured.

Also, ask to see your therapists certificates to give you extra peace of mind that they are keeping up to date.

Ensuring Reasonable Standards

To assure potential clients that they can expect a good quality treatment I have become a full member of the Bowen Therapists Professional Association (BTPA) which is an autonomous non profit-making organisation run by Bowen Therapists for Bowen Therapists. The association provides a Constitution, Ethics and Code of Practice to help members work professionally. BTPA assesses and accredits new courses for members' Continual Professional Development (CPD).

I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Health Council which was set up with government support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of health practitioners. CNHC's register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a body accountable to Parliament.

Added to this, I am also a member of Locate Your Look which is free and easy to use online directory for customers to find recommended and trusted professionals within the hair, beauty, health and well-being industry, providing them with all the information they need to get the level of service they are paying for.

All three provide you with levels of confidence that I am qualified to provide Bowen Therapy, and also that I continue to attend further development courses each year to either add to or consolidate my Bowen knowledge and abilities, and have suitable insurance cover. The continued professional development, and insurance cover, are a requirement of my membership in both the BTPA and CNHC directories.

First Entry

Hello and Welcome. In this section I will, from time to time, post something related to Bowen Therapy which I think may be of use to anyone considering having some Bowen treatments for a condition they have. You may have had the condition for some time, and have tried everything else, and a friend or relative has suggested that you might like to give Bowen a try, as it had worked for them.

A fair few Bowen Therapists have been through this process, they have had an incident which has left them with an injury that nothing seems to be helping relieve, and they eventually try Bowen and found that it worked for them. It impressed them so much they decided to learn how to do it themselves.

It will probably take a few treatments to help relieve an injury that you may have had for some time, but hopefully you will see some changes after each treatment.
